Liver cancer raised in Canada

Based on CBC health news, liver cancer incidence has tripled in Canadian men and doubled in women since the 1970s. The Canadian Cancer Society estimated that 187600 people in Canada will know that they have a new cancer in 2013 and about 75500 Canadians will die from cancer.

Liver Cancer was called one of the fastest rising types of cancer and it is poor prognosis. The most greatest risk factors for liver cancer is chronic hepatitis B and hepatitis C. Liver disease is not well-recognized because it does not develop symptoms. Patients are hard aware that they have liver cancer until untreatable stage. According above reasons, people should exam their liver function every year. If people have hepatitis B or hepatitis C, they should treat the disease as soon as possible. The other way to prevent hepatitis B is getting a vaccine. Unfortunately, there is no vaccine for hepatitis C.

To protect your liver, there are some risk factors which we can avoid in our daily life, such as excessive alcohol use, overweight and smoking. Heavy alcohol can destroy liver cells and also decrease liver function. From a study, a drinker’s liver is larger than people who do not drink. The other risk factor is diabetes. Especially, some new immigrants. Because of the food style’s change,some people develop diabetes from intake more sugar and calorie. Keeping healthy life style is important to prevent liver disease.

In conclusion, nowadays, liver cancer’s incidence rate is increasing. People need to improve their awareness of preventing liver disease. Making sure do body check every year and living in a healthy life style is crucial for your health.
